Forensic Law Intelligence & Enforcement Service (FLIES) Concept and Design
The Forensic Law Intelligence & Enforcement Service (FLIES) was designed to embody a system of control rather than a collection of individuals, reflecting Nexum’s philosophy of order through surveillance, uniformity, and escalation. The visual language merges Tokusatsu-inspired design with tactical law enforcement aesthetics, leaning more toward a police officer’s tactical uniform than a formal or standard issue look. FLIES Officers are built with clean, modular silhouettes and identifiable gear systems, while the skull-like, fly-themed FLIES Helmet removes individuality and reinforces a faceless, insectoid presence, with green bug-like eyes distinguishing the standard units. SWARM Troopers push this further, drawing from SWAT-inspired gear with heavier armor, taller proportions, and more aggressive forms, accented by red bug-like eyes to signal escalation and threat level. Supporting elements like the GSB (Gear Spawner Buckle), plasma-based weaponry, and matching drone units, each designed to echo the helmet’s faceless and intimidating structure, unify the entire system into a cohesive enforcement ecosystem. The designs were heavily informed by real-world tactical police reference, particularly in gear and weapon construction, while still maintaining a stylized, genre-aware identity. This project took longer than any previous work due to its complexity and level of detail, and while the designs push into highly detailed territory, the goal was to balance that complexity with clarity and strong visual readability.
